Credit unions are providing relief for American families burdened by high-interest credit cards.
It's not fancy. Just a simple truth. Not-for-profit credit unions have lower credit card rates than for-profit banks. When you transfer your debt to a credit union, more of your monthly payment is applied to reducing the debt and less to cover a high interest rate. It's the easy and honest way to save a lot of money.
The big idea
The truth bubbled to the surface as a couple of folks that love credit unions talked about life in America at a coffee shop. We thought, "This can help our friends and neighbors." At that moment, the American Debt Relief Challenge was born.
Letting go of our big egos
As we worked on ADR we fell in love with the idea of truly helping people struggling to make ends meet. Owning the idea seemed "yucky."
That's why:
- We are giving participation in ADR away to any credit union that can't afford the registration fee.
- We are giving ADR away to credit union leagues and empowering them to help small credit unions.
- We did not create a giant, single advertising campaign. Instead, we opened ADR up to the best ad agencies in North America to cooperate just like credit unions.
- You'll see local credit unions making the headlines and taking credit for saving American families millions, not us.
